Why study in US?

Academic Excellence

One can easily research and find out that US has some of the best-ranked Universities in the world. US ranks among the top countries with an excellent education with great opportunities in various fields of studies. As per research 33 of the top 100 Universities are from US.

Better Employability

This is the most fundamental aspect of studying in US. The study curriculum is designed that incorporates practical experiences of internships, projects, and mini assignments with companies along with classroom lectures. You solve real-life problems through these practical experiences and colleges will only grant you your degree if you fulfil these requirements in your course of study. There are such mechanisms consciously included in the course, with the sole intention that you are ready to apply and start working in companies as soon as you graduate.

This is the reason the graduation to employability ratio in most US universities is really good.
Unlike countries like India, where you will find career and placement cells of colleges organizing placements fairs and inviting all the companies on campus to conduct interviews for the students, US universities want you to learn the challenging way. Every student is expected to do everything starting from approaching companies, scheduling their interviews, networking etc. Hence, if you are enrolled in one of the good universities in US you have the confidence and experience to start working from day 1 at a job that you apply to.

International Exposure

Most of US Universities will be a cluster of different nationalities and cultures. When you sit in a class with students that come from diverse countries and diverse cultures when you have professors who belong to different nations, your learning experience is enriched and you have multiple perspectives on a particular situation at hand. US is a nation where you will find everything in excess whether it is food, entertainment, technology, or clothing. However it is also a land of billion opportunities where you would succeed if you look beyond these amenities that you can easily get addicted to, and challenge yourself to bring out the best in you, to value add to this affluent country. The international exposure that you get when you are in your twenties will definitely help you network with companies and individuals from different nations with ease when you start working in the job market.

Diverse Course and Specialization

Every college in US will offer you a wide variety of courses to pick and choose from along with your specialized subject. For e.g, if you have opted for a bachelor’s program in science and you are doing majors in Physics, you can also take statistics or any other subject of your choice along with physics. You may be an MBA student with a specialization in Marketing but you can choose subjects like music and economics if you like them too. This ensures that as a student you are not stuck with one particular subject and diversify yourself and get experience by meeting different people through these different subjects; develop your personality and increase and scope of employability. Don’t you this freedom in subject choices will help you in your growth? You will have the power to handpick courses and interact with diverse individuals and that will widen your scope of what you know about life.

World Class Faculty and student group

This is not a surprise. You can expect this at every US University. The US Education system has a mandate that every professor who is teaching you is also going to be doing research and publishing papers in their field of study. This results in two things. One, you as a student will benefit immensely from such smart and intelligent professors. Two, the faculty will also grow and be better at bringing real-life case studies to your class day in and day out. Imagine a student group which is diverse and has intelligent students from different nations as part of your classroom. Your learning will be far richer and faster as you may not be the most intelligent person in the class or rather an average student, but when you have a rich peer group that would push you to perform at your best every single day and bring the best out of you.

Pathway to Permanent Residency

This is a personal choice. But if you have a dream to work and live in US then entering the country with a study visa will be a pathway to achieving that dream. Work visas are far more difficult than getting student visas. After you complete your study; for example, you successfully complete your master’s program you get an additional year called Optional Training Period (OTP) where you can get work in the country without a work visa for that 1 year and then get a job in a company who then sponsor your work visa. You can apply for permanent residency or you can always come back to India after a few years of work if you choose to do. In any case, you will have financial stability, a few years of fantastic work experience and the ability to support yourself and your family’s future. Hence International Education can be a smart way to get the opportunity of working and staying in US.

Self Discovery

When you push yourself and challenge yourself to be in a new country, you will on a roller coaster ride right from your application, your selection, your travel, accommodation and starting your course. As an Indian student, you will have to find ways to reduce your costs and find affordable means of survival in US. You will have to network with different people, do a part-time job to help you pay your bills, join a club, and socialize with your peer group at parties and events. These experiences will help you discover things about yourself that you probably never notice or explore through any other experience. The US experience will mould you into your best version and push you to your limits. Last but not the least, it’ll help you question what exactly you are passionate about and how will you add value to the world we live in to make it a better place.
