No ‘Dunki’ works in students favor

The latest movie ‘Dunki’ in India, caused many people, both students and working professionals to reconsider whether travelling abroad is a viable option for them. It made people question what they were willing to risk for the sake of a life abroad.

While ‘Dunki’ was based on partially true stories of the past, such practices of trying to obtain entry into America or Europe through illegal means is still quite true today. Despite hearing about stories of being duped by agents who take the candidates money and forge fake visa’s and passports, such requests are still made by many, who will stoop to any level to get illegal documents they want. Unfortunately, many suffer at the end of the day as they wind up becoming illegal migrants, struggling to make ends meet, living in squalor conditions in a foreign country with no means to return to their homeland.

It is to avoid situations like this that politicians of foreign countries are making stricter efforts to streamline the process in which immigrants enter a country.

One would assume that such tales of woe would dissuade the public from engaging in such appalling practices but this is far from true. Not only do adults request for fake visa’s and passports, young students planning to travel for higher studies have no shame associated to buying forged IELTS Score cards. The assumption that anything and everything can be obtained by paying a randomly decided amount displays the level to which our society has been reduced to. If youngsters can freely bribe others to complete assignments or tasks for them, what is to stop them from continuing this unhealthy pattern wherever they go? Such a habit causes them to become dependent on getting anything done using money and this is why most youngsters are unable to realise the importance of actually being able to independently work on projects and apply their mind to it.

Furthermore, a more recent fad amongst students has plagued our youngsters today – ChatGPT. Thanks to this advanced AI form, students don’t need to apply thought to any written document anymore as the ChatGPT software, will do it for them.

One has to only wonder, when and where did all the self-reliance and authenticity go. If we are to create a society that is more transparent and self-reliant, it is best to practice such behaviors at home and in our everyday lives and teach our younger generations by setting better examples.
